Drawing inspiration from ancient philosophies, Lupe reflects on a time when everything in existence - mountains, rocks, trees, and animals – were all believed to have their own unique spirits. There was a deep desire for harmony and connection with the entire universe and all of our fellow beings.
In more recent times, however, humanity has adopted a philosophy of superiority of worth. This mindset has led us down a different path, one where we strive to dominate and control rather than coexist. In "Everything is Other, Everything is Us," Lupe challenges this ethos of superiority, urging viewers to reevaluate their relationship with the environment. Through a tapestry of methodical arrangements, "Everything is Other, Everything is Us" is a commentary on the interconnectedness of all facets of existence by embracing the intrinsic worth of every entity.
Gallery SADE is thrilled to present the highly-anticipated inaugural exhibition of artist John Lupe in Los Angeles. Titled "Everything is Other, Everything is Us," the show promises a captivating exploration of humanity's interconnectedness with the world around us.
“Everything is Other, Everything is Us” presents a mesmerizing fusion of found objects and mixed media compositions. Through a meticulous collage of materials, Lupe delves deep into the essence of existence, inviting audiences to explore the profound bond between ourselves and our surroundings.
